Why study Psychology?
You will develop communication skills in a range of theoretical and practical settings. There will be regular emphasis on problem solving as well as challenging you to develop your resilience and independence. The course covers a wide range of unit topics abd can lead to exciting and rewarding careers in the field of psychology.
What exactly do they learn?
You will develop knowledge and understanding of key approaches and theories in psychology and apply these to issues relevant to contemporary society, for example lifestyle choices and unhealthy behaviours such as addiction.
You will learn about the types and characteristics of mental disorders, approaches to treatment, and the role of professionals in supporting and promoting mental health. In addition to exploring the scientific process in psychological research methodology through conducting your own psychological research project.
Further study and careers in Psychology
The qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to admission requirements to many relevant applied psychology courses. When combined with other relevant qualifications, you could progress onto degree courses such as Occupational Health, Child Psychology and Sport Psychology.
