Archbishop Beck Year 11 student, Hope, has spent the past year as part of the University of Liverpool’s Young Persons Advisory Group (YPAG). This group gives young people the chance to share their thoughts, experiences, and insights with researchers, helping to shape academic projects that could influence policies and improve lives across our region.

Last week, Hope was invited to the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool, where she joined a panel discussion alongside senior politicians, policy makers, and professors from Health Equity North. Representing YPAG, she asked hard-hitting questions about child poverty, the cost-of-living crisis, and the challenges facing young people in Merseyside today.

Hope didn’t shy away from tackling big issues like university fees, access to support, healthy diets, and ensuring every child has a warm home, no matter their circumstances.

Hope also had the chance to chat with Professor David Taylor-Robinson from the University of Liverpool’s Public Health Inequalities department about her future and the opportunities ahead.

This incredible experience not only showcased Hope’s passion and determination but also highlighted the important role young people can play in shaping a better future. We’re sure this is just the beginning for Hope and her inspiring journey!
