Bingo and Smiles
Wednesday 3 December 2025
As part of the Student Leadership Team at Archbishop Beck, Imogen, Charlotte, Eve and myself (Michelle, Year 12) have helped organise and deliver this year’s Senior Citizens’ Bingo Party held in the main hall of the college building, with support from pastoral leaders Peter and Mrs Ronan.
The afternoon was full of laughter, excitement and friendly competition as everyone took part in several games of bingo. It was really nice to see how much the guests were enjoying themselves and talking to each other. To make it even better, the winners went home with amazing prizes, which everyone was really excited about.
We also ran a quiz, which everyone really enjoyed and got involved in. It was great seeing how competitive and enthusiastic people were, and it brought lots of laughs to the room.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was a performance from a Year 11 student who sang for our guests. They were absolutely amazing and created such a fun and positive atmosphere. Everyone was clapping along, smiling and really enjoying the performance. It made the day feel even more special.
Refreshments were provided, including cupcakes, sandwiches, tea and coffee. We helped to serve food and drinks and spent time talking to, and getting to know the guests, which was one of my favourite parts of the day. It was nice to listen to their stories and make sure everyone felt comfortable.
We were very happy to also be joined by our headteacher, Mr Stirling, who supported the event by spending time with our guests. This meant a lot to everyone.
Some of our guests also shared lovely feedback. Anne said, “This has been one of the best afternoons I’ve had in a long time. Everyone was so kind and welcoming.”
Malorie added, “I loved the bingo and the singing.”
The event would not have been possible without the help and support of Peter and Mrs Ronan, who made sure everything ran smoothly and supported us throughout the day.
Overall, the Senior Citizens’ Party was a really positive and rewarding experience. I am proud to have been part of it.
Headteacher, Paul Stirling said, “it was a most wonderful, magical and fun afternoon for everyone. The commitment shown by everyone was a tribute to our student’s organisational skills, where motivation, commitment and enjoyment, made the event something very special for our college community.”
