Challenging the ethical issues of Debt

As part of our Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee journey, Cafod visited our college on Tuesday 25 March to pioneer their new workshop; the workshop examines the argument to ‘cancel the debt’ based on the Encyclical from Pope Francis ‘Spes non confundit’. Crippling debt is owed by so many Third World Countries which for many is a larger outgoing than health care or education and the Jubilee Year aims to raise awareness and get the debt cancelled.

Students explored how this debt is accrued by the rising cost of living, colonisation, the pandemic and exploitation amongst many other reasons and examined how our young people can raise awareness and contribute to a more just future for the most vulnerable in our world.
