Introducing Our Senior College Ambassador Head Girl, Esther
What Primary School did you attend?
I attended Barlows Primary School.
How did you feel when you received the new that you were to be the new Head Girl?
When I was informed I would be the new head girl, I felt so honoured and proud that I had been recognised by the college as someone suitable enough to take on this role. I was immediately excited to begin with the projects and responsibilities that come with this position.
What qualities do you think you bring to this role?
I am a very open-minded person; I enjoy listening to individuals, share their opinions to make sure that everyone feels as though they are valued. I think this also helps support a better relationship between myself, the students, and staff, so that we can take positive steps forward together as a team. I am also very determined to achieve things and hopefully this is evident to my fellow students and will urge them to do the same.
In your opinion why do you think that it is important to have both a head boy and Head Girl?
I believe it is important to have both a Head-Boy and Head Girl in the college because, as students, we understand better than anyone what students want, which makes the communication of these needs easier between us and staff. I also think that it is a nice addition to have a friend to take these ideas and concerns to, as opposed to a teacher.
What have you enjoyed about your time in the college?
During my time at the college, I have most enjoyed the wide range of extra curricular activities and opportunities that have been offered to me, for instance, dance, which has allowed me to be educated in a unique way and gain so much experience which I can then transfer on as a young adult in the world.
What would you say to other students thinking of joining our sixth form?
I could not recommend the Sixth Form highly enough. I feel as though you are treated like adults by staff which prepares us accordingly for our next steps after college life. The whole of the Sixth Form team continuously have our best interests at heart, with nothing ever being too much to ask from them. There is a positive atmosphere within the Sixth Form. I like having the independence and freedom to learn in my own time.
What are you studying at A level? Why did you choose the subject?
I am currently studying A Level Dance, Performing Arts, English Literature and Health and Social Care. I chose these subjects because I really enjoyed them during my GCSE’s and feel as though it was important for me to enjoy the subjects that I am spending so much time doing. I also hope to take dance further by continuing to study Dance and Performing Arts at university. My dream is to one day be a professional dancer and therefore by working hard now I am hopefully setting myself on the right path.
What do you see as some of the major strengths of Archbishop Beck?
I believe the staff are the biggest strength of the college. Their support everyday allows us to receive the best education. It’s comforting to know we have someone there for us if we have any questions or concerns.
The staff have had a huge impact on me. I would not be where I am today without them. The facilities that are available to us in the college are also unmatched, which allows the student community to excel further in different areas.
What are you hoping to do in the future?
I am hoping to become a professional dancer on board cruise-ships and perform in professional production shows. I would also love to teach dance to the next generation and one day even open my own dance school.
