Year 10 Geography Fieldwork

Monday 7 July 2025

You can’t go over it. You can’t go under it. You have to go through it!

During the week of 7th July, Year 10 students took part in two valuable fieldwork trips to support their GCSE Geography studies. The first visit was to the River Alyn, in Alyn Waters Country Park, where they gathered data on river characteristics such as width, depth, flow velocity, and bedload size, helping them explore fluvial processes in a practical context.

Later in the week, they travelled to Liverpool city centre to investigate urban change, collecting data on land use, environmental quality, and pedestrian activity. The students were excellently behaved throughout both trips, demonstrating maturity, teamwork, and curiosity.

As well as developing their geographical understanding, they gained valuable life skills such as communication with the public, data collection, and independent thinking. These are experiences that will benefit them both in their examinations and beyond.

A big thank you goes to the staff for their hard work in organising and supporting these trips, ensuring everything ran smoothly and safely.
