Head Boy Q & A with Mr Hicks

What Primary school did you attend?

I attended St. Matthew’s Catholic Primary School.

How did you feel when you received the news that you were to be the new Head Girl?

Receiving the news of being head boy, I was ecstatic, it had been something I have always wanted to be since year 7 and now it has become reality. I am very excited to doing my job to the best of my ability and to lead by example.

What qualities do you think you bring to this role?

I would say I am a very approachable and confident person who enjoys helping others when they are needing it, whether that being academically or personally, which I wish to show through my time as head boy.

Why is it important to have both a Head Boy and a Head Girl?

Head Boy and Head Girl are very important roles within the college, as we can be the voice of the students and act when something must change.

What have you enjoyed about your time in college?

During my time at Archbishop Beck Catholic College, I have received an outstanding education, which has allowed me to gain a great understanding in fields that I am interested in. Specifically, the support from teachers is unmatched, whether that being academic or not, which I think is very special to have in any college.

What would you say to other students thinking of joining our sixth form?

Our sixth form offers great facilities, support and opportunities that make it stand out from any other sixth form college. From sport facilities to workshops, to labs, we have it all.

What are you studying at A Level? Why did you choose these subjects?

I study maths, biology and physics. I chose these subjects as they offer a great foundation for what I can build upon through higher education at university.

After your 6th Form studies what do you want to do and where do you want to study?

I am planning to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sheffield.

What do you see as some of the strengths of Archbishop Beck?

Archbishop Beck has many strengths, but just to pinpoint one, it would be the teaching support. The staff here at Archbishop Beck will go far and beyond the extent they are required to, just so they can bring out the best in you.
