Head Boy and Head Girl Q & A with Mr Hicks
What primary school did you attend?
Blessed sacrament.
How did you feel when you received the news that you were to be the new head girl?
Proud of what I have achieved and proud to represent the college.
What have you enjoyed about your time in college?
I have really enjoyed being part of such a supportive school community, building friendships and taking part in opportunities both academically and outside of the classroom.
What would you say to other students about joining our sixth form?
I would encourage other students to join our sixth form because we offer excellent teaching and support but also a welcoming environment where there are opportunities to grow, challenge myself and develop new skills. Archbishop beck sixth form prepares you for the future whilst allowing you to make amazing memories along the way.
What are you studying at A-Level?
History, English Literature and Applied Psychology
Why did you choose these subjects?
I chose to study history because I’ve always loved exploring the past and understanding how it shapes the present and I hope to become a history teacher in the future so choosing this subject felt like the perfect step toward turning my passion into a career. I picked English literature because I enjoy analysing texts, exploring themes and developing my writing skills. Finally, I chose Applied Psychology because I am interested in understanding how people think and behave, and I know the subject will help me develop valuable skills in research and critical thinking.
After your sixth form studies what do you want to do and where do you want to study?
After sixth form I hope to study a history degree at Edge Hill University.
What do you see as some of the strengths of Archbishop Beck?
One of the main strengths of our sixth form is the supportive relationships between students and staff, they always encourage you to reach your full potential and do everything they can to help you succeed. Another strength is the range of opportunities that the sixth form offers, this is from the variety of subjects to choose from and extracurricular activities which allow students to grow and better themselves. The strong sense of community also makes the sixth form a welcoming place to study.
10 years from now I hope to be fulfilling my ambition of working as a history teacher, inspiring future generations with the same enthusiasm and support that I have received during my time here at Archbishop Beck. I also hope to have grown personally achieving a healthy balance between my career and my life outside of work, while continuing to challenge myself and embrace new opportunities.
