Poetry Expo a Wonderful, Incredible and Inspiring Experience

Friday 4 July 2025

“People are drawn to poetry because it connects them to their emotions and to other people. It also allows us to express the inexpressible.”

Poetry is about making connections between the Poet and the listener. On Friday 4th July college students went to the first Poetry Expo held in Liverpool to be part of a very special event which connected the Poet to the listener and the listener to the Poet.

Students were treated to an array of amazing stimuli to help them understand, create and speak their own poetry.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the exhibition centre. They participated in activities (which ranged from poetry writing to pirate based faux swordplay) with enthusiasm, maturity and confidence.

Their creativity, involvement and engagement were commented on positively by many of those present, including our alumni Joseph Roberts.

Mia Owens from Year 10 was selected to read a poem she had written in front of the whole audience. Undeterred by the large gathering, she rose to the occasion and delivered her wonderful poetry with style, finesse and confidence.

The college also records their congratulations to our very own Joseph Roberts who was instrumental in the organising of so many aspects of “The Poetry Expo 2025”.
