Prison Visit
Thursday 25 September 2025
Many thanks to all the staff and students involved in the powerful Prison Service Assemblies this week outlining the project of ‘New Vision.’
The Chaplaincy Team from HMP Walton and HMP Altcourse both visited our college to share their message of faith and hope with the staff and students and to outline the challenges and struggles of prisoners as they are released from prison daily.
Each day a visiting guest speaker accompanied the Chaplains, many of whom had served a prison sentence or had experience of the criminal justice system and had found a Christian faith which had helped to rebuild their lives and, in many cases, transform them completely.
The students were deeply engaged in this relevant message, and it brought home the clear misunderstandings and prejudice which many prisoners and ex-prisoners experience.
It also reminded students of the devastating effects of crime and how they always have choices to make to determine the path of their lives.
Prayer
Lord, you offer freedom to all people. We pray for those who are in prison. Break the bonds of fear and isolation that exist. Support with your love: prisoners, their families and friends, prison staff and all who care.
