Spreading God’s Spirit

Tuesday 24 June 2025

“Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

As a college we were delighted to welcome Rev Brian Greenhalgh and Ken McCabe on Tuesday 24th June. Rev Brian is the chaplain for HMP Altcourse and Ken is the chaplain for HMP Liverpool, Walton. Archbishop Beck sits in between both prisons and plays a central role to many of our students who have been affected by prison life through relatives serving sentences or indeed being the victims of crime.

Prison life is often forgotten about, judged or overlooked yet education, faith and awareness create new ways of viewing the human being behind the crime. Crime is a worrying issue, yet many criminals are also victims. We look forward to working closely with the prison service as we unpack further the invitation given by the late Pope Francis to live out the Year of the Jubilee and to bring hope and understanding to those who are lost, marginalised or misguided.

We were also delighted to welcome, Father Mark, Parish Priest of Holy Name Parish, who came into the college to celebrate Holy Mass for our students.
