College Falls Silent

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them”.

At 11am on Thursday 11th November the balconies, classrooms and community of the college fell silent as the Annual Remembrance Service began. The college was led in prayers and the “Act of Remembrance” by the Head Boy, Keng Kim and Head Girl, Rachel Vincent. The Last Post and Reveille was sounded by Trumpeter, Anthony Green. Anthony also had the honour of playing at the Tyne Cot and Thiepval, War Memorials, Belgium. Headteacher Paul Dickinson said, “We seem to be surrounded by conflict wherever we look. We are challenged by Climate change, by Covid and often by the phobias and prejudices in the society of today. This is an opportunity for us, as a community, to remember those who fought very different battles for us and for the freedoms we enjoy. We honour them for their sacrifice and service. Let us hope that we can learn lessons for living our lives wisely in our modern world.”

“When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow, we gave our today”.
