Black Tie Dinner

Lauren and Matthew, two of our Advanced Apprenticeship students attended a gala dinner hosted by Business in the Community on Thursday 14th June 2012. Business in the Community (BITC) are a business-led charity that focus on promoting responsible business practice and Matthew and Lauren were able to listen first hand to inspirational stories about how local communities in and around the North West have benefitted from the support of local businesses. Lauren and Matthew were invited to the event by Merseyrail. Both students have been at Merseyrail since September 2011 studying for an Advanced Level 3 Business and Administration Apprenticeship. The Apprenticeship programme offered by the school in conjunction with Merseyrail has been invaluable in engaging their interests. The partnership has helped Lauren and Matthew improve their transferable skills, they have both definitely risen to the challenges put forward to them, taking them on enthusiastically. The experience and skills they have obtained this year have in no doubt made them more employable, they are both excellent role models for their peers and have shown a level of maturity beyond their years. Both students had a great night. Lauren and Matthew pictured with Mr Dickinson and Martin Spaargaren (Managing Director, Merseyrail)
