Public Speaking Competition Success

The Power of Words “Handle them carefully, for words have more power than atom bombs” – Pearl Strachan Each year Soroptimists International, Liverpool Branch holds a Public Speaking Competition for schools. It is open to students aged 12 to 14 years old. Archbishop Beck student Katy, from Year 8 wowed the judges with her outstanding speech which was built on unique presentation style and her sheer passion for the topic chosen. Speaking after the event Katy said, “I was delighted to represent the college and enjoyed the experience. I was of course delighted to have won too.” Bruce Hicks, Assistant Headteacher at the College said, “we were delighted to welcome this international organisation to the College as part of our yearlong celebration for the opening of our new campus. The public speaking contest has been one of many prestigious events held so far with a number still yet to go before we break for summer vacation.” He added “our two speakers were outstanding, not only congratulations to Katy but also fellow team member Maisie Gotham”
