Our Day Out – Fantastic

Thursday 18 June 2026

“The classroom gives knowledge. The field trip gives voice.” A-Level Biology trip to Chester Zoo was a highly successful and enjoyable educational experience. Students took part in specialist workshops on evolution and classification, which reinforced key concepts from the A-Level curriculum through engaging, real-world examples. The sessions provided valuable insight into biodiversity, adaptation, natural selection, and modern methods of classifying organisms. Throughout the day, our students had the opportunity to observe a wide range of species and apply their classroom learning to living examples. The workshops encouraged critical thinking and scientific discussion, helping students deepen their understanding of biological principles. Headteacher, Paul Stirling said “At Archbishop Beck, our recent biology trip showed once again that the best learning happens when students step outside the classroom — asking questions, explaining ideas, and finding their voice in the real world. Well done everyone”
