Ski Trip to Italy 2026

Thursday 26 March 2026

On Thursday 26th March, 48 students from years 8, 9, 10 and 12 along with 6 members of staff led by Mr. Lyons, travelled to Monte Bondone in Italy.
After a long, but entertaining coach journey, we arrived in the small town of Vason nestled within the beautiful Dolomite mountain range in northern Italy. The ski season was drawing to a close, but with a lot of recent snowfall, the conditions were glorious for us – quiet, snow covered slopes and picturesque views.
Students took part in 2 ski lessons with professional instructors each day. From our more experienced skiers who had been before, to our first-time beginners, every student took part even those who struggled initially or were cold or tired. They showed great resilience and developed their ski skills whilst still having fun and enjoying every moment on the slopes. As well as skiing, this trip was also about developing independence for students with many of them being away from home for the first time. Mealtimes and bedtimes without mobile phones and sitting together to eat meals were an important part of our daily routine. Students had to manage their own money and get themselves up and ready to leave on time each morning. Whilst this may seem insignificant, it is a vitally important part of the enriching and educational experience we offer.
The evening entertainment at the hotel gave students the chance to relax, create new friendships and display their talents with many students getting up singing karaoke, dancing and even performing with the guitar. A very talented bunch indeed!
Staff and guests within the hotel along with the ski instructors and owners from the local souvenir store all commented on how respectful and well-behaved the children from Archbishop Beck were during our stay. Each student was a credit to themselves, their families and our school. They should be very proud of how they conducted themselves throughout the week.
With great skiing and wonderful memories made, we now look forward to planning the next school ski trip.
