The Science of Christmas
Brilliant minds doing brilliant things
Our Key Stage 3 STEM Club here at Archbishop Beck Catholic College have put together a glassware Chemist-Tree, filled with universal indicator, acids and alkali ranges, salt solutions and some LEDs to add the festive touch. The students even topped the tree with a Molymod star! This is part of their submission to the STEM’s Christmas competition.
It’s a true work of art, all made with glassware and electronics from the lab.
Very best wishes to the team.
About the Christmas tree…
Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition as we now know it in the 16th century when devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Some built Christmas pyramids of wood and decorated them with evergreens and candles if wood was scarce.
