Something Wonderful – Stars in the Making

“You gotta have a dream. If you don’t have a dream, how you gonna make a dream come true?” Oscar Hammerstein II.

On Friday 25th March alumni Mary and Kelly performed in an amazing Music Cabaret Revue celebrating the works of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. It was presented by James Lacey, who is fresh off the West End in shows such as ‘Shrek’ & ‘The Sound of Music.’

The college was represented by Emeritus Director of Music Bruce Hicks and Vocal Director Mrs Newton, who were both delighted to support our former students in this event.

Both Kelly and Mary left the college in 2015 and have been studying at RARE Performing Arts School, specialising in Music Theatre Studies, in Liverpool and over the next few weeks will be taking part in auditions for The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, The Royal Scottish Conservatoire & The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Even at this early stage of the admissions procedure Mary and Kelly have been called back to a second round of auditions.

Speaking after the event, Mrs Newtown said, “we wish these young people every success and salute and admire their commitment to the arts; they were wonderful, loyal and talented students when at the college and gave their very best, they deserve their success.”
