Carols by Candlelight

Thursday 12 December 2024

Archbishop Beck Catholic College is delighted to have hosted our first ever Carols by Candlelight on Thursday 12th December. The event was organised by the Performing Arts Department and the Chaplaincy Team. The event was packed on the night with those from the local parishes, staff and parents of the students who performed. The Archbishop Beck Dance Company’ led the way with many group and solo performances, many of which overwhelmed the congregation with their young talent, the Archbishop Beck Concert Band played so many incredible pieces and this was all supported by Archbishop Beck College Chamber Choir who moved many of our congregation to tears with their solo and group pieces. This was a reflective evening that illustrated the true meaning of Christmas in word, music, song and dance, it is also a reflection of the enormous talent that we have in our college, both staff and students. The congregation chatted about the awe-inspiring event over mince pieces and tea afterwards.

One member of the congregation said, ‘I didn’t feel very festive before arriving here this evening, yet this event had brought me to the Christmas spirit and I look forward to making this an annual tradition’.

We offer many thanks to all the staff and students who make this a remarkable event for the college and one that we hope will last for many years to come. As a result of the event, we also raised £1,050 for Zoe’s Place through ticket sales and other college charitable events of which we are incredibly proud.
