Awards Evening 2025

Thursday 23 October 2025

The Archbishop Beck Catholic College Awards Evening took place on Thursday 23rd October.

The annual Awards Evening is a time to celebrate the achievements and outstanding efforts of our students throughout the school year. We were delighted to welcome Joseph Roberts, former Head Boy and Spoken Word Poet, as our Guest of Honour for the evening.

In his message to our college community, Joseph shared five key messages, which are shown below:

1: ‘BELIEF BECOMES IDENTITY’
With consistency and repetition, you can change not only your results, but your identity. The more evidence there is, the more we are likely to believe it.
(Joseph Roberts – Awards Evening 2025)

2: ‘TO BECOME THE BEST, YOU HAVE TO LEARN FROM THE BEST
It’s what you do outside the classroom that sets you apart from the rest. There is always something to learn and there is always more you can do.
(Joseph Roberts – Awards Evening 2025)

3: ‘BE TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE’
The moment we be who we want to be, the moment we exist how we want to exist; everything falls into fruition. Surrender to the universe, have faith and allow your story to unfold.
(Joseph Roberts – Awards Evening 2025)

4: ‘FIND YOUR TRIBE’
What I mean by that is find your like-minded people, find your audience and go where you’re valued. At Archbishop Beck, I was a member of the college orchestra, choir and Public Speaking team. The door was always open to the music room, to play piano, practice my speeches, to write my poems and follow my heart.

5: ‘STAND TALL’
I speak to the students here this evening and I encourage you to stand tall in your life. Stand by who you are, stand by what you believe in and stand by what you have achieved.(Joseph Roberts – Awards Evening 2025)

Be patient. Be consistent. Be you, and there’s no reason why your dreams can’t come true.
