Year 9 and Year 10 Students Visit Liverpool John Moores University
Students from Year 9 and Year 10 recently took part in the final session of the year, for the inspiring Step-Up Programme at Liverpool John Moores University, designed to give young people an insight into university life and future opportunities after sixth form or college.
Our Year 9 students attended on Thursday 7th May, where they enjoyed a range of engaging activities including sessions on student life, a campus tour, a Sports Science taster session and an introduction to Film Studies. The visit gave students the chance to explore the university environment and begin thinking about the exciting pathways available to them in the future.
Year 10 students visited on Thursday 14th May and also took part in sessions about student life and a campus tour. In addition, they experienced a Nursing taster session alongside a Film Studies taster, helping them to explore different subject areas and careers linked to higher education.
The Step-Up Programme is an excellent opportunity for students to raise their aspirations, build confidence and gain a better understanding of university study and life beyond school. Both groups represented the school brilliantly and engaged enthusiastically throughout the visits.
We are very proud of all the students who took part and look forward to continuing to support them in planning for their futures.
Headteacher, Paul Stirling said, “we make sure that all our students at the college have access to what is available to them in further education, we continue to inspire our young people to know what is available as they make important life choices, we are a community that has aspirations at its very heart.”
