Football Tournament at Finch Farm
On Wednesday 11th October, the Year 7 Football Team had its very first outing. The students were extremely fortunate to attend the Ian Lavery Memorial Invitational Tournament at Finch Farm, Everton Football Club.
The boys were drawn in the ‘group of death’ – first, against Cardinal Heenan. Unfortunately, they were too strong, defeating us 3-0. It could’ve been worse if not for Riley Stevenson, who made a number of outstanding saves.
We then played against Calderstones, losing by an unlucky own goal, yet started to show some positive signs of a new team beginning to gel together. Bailey Robinson-Scott looked the danger man up front.
In our final game, we played against an unbeaten St. Margaret’s. We kept the game to a 1-0 deficit for the majority, which the defence can be proud of.
Although we didn’t get our first win, there are plenty of positives to build on. The boys enjoyed the experience and are excited for their National Cup match next week, versus Maghull.
