Year 7 Advent Carol Service

Year 7 students represented the college at the annual Advent Carol Service for Schools held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King on Wednesday 6th December. (St Nicholas’ feast day) accompanied by Mr Postlethwaite, Ms Farrell and college chaplain Peter. The theme of the service was “Let your light shine” and was a retelling of the Christmas story using drama, music and pantomime featuring the wicked King Herod making an appearance in the Cathedral with his Chihuahua dog!!!

In these challenging times that we live in, students were encouraged to be the light that overcomes darkness and demonstrated this by taking onto the altar unopened Christmas presents that the college had collected in, which will be distributed by Nugent for children of school age within the diocese who are likely to receive little if anything on Christmas morning.

Mr Postlethwaite felt that “the service was a truly heart-warming up lifting occasion; it was wonderful to see the cathedral so full of students from both the primary and secondary sector having reinforced for them the true meaning of Christmas.”
