Teamwork and more Teamwork!

“The ratio of “we’s” to “I’s” is the best indicator of the development of a team.” Lewis B. Ergen

Our Year 7 & 8 students recently competed in the World Cup Tournament organised by LSSP. 17 teams from across City took part in the competition.

This talented group of players beat St Hilda’s 2-0, drew against St Julie’s & lost to St John Bosco. The results meant we progressed through to the last 16 facing Bluecoat School in the knockout rounds.

In a match lasting only 8 mins Beck went 2-0 down but showed great determination and outstanding individual performances with goals from Millie Wick, Poppy Ankrah & Grace Sweeny to win in the last minute of the game 3-2. The Quarter Finals was another close contest, but for the third time Archbishop Beck were on the losing side missing out on the semi-finals by 2 goals to 1.

Headteacher, Mr Stirling said, “Both teams of players were a credit to the college community. Their attitude, behaviour and performances were excellent, and all should be proud of their achievements”.

Coach, Ms Burke said, “we look forward to competing in more tournaments throughout the year” with this amazing group of students. Well done everyone, we did our very best”.
