Everton in the Community Celebrates 25 years

On 1st February 2013, Everton in the Community celebrated 25 years of making a difference to people’s lives across Merseyside and North Wales.

Starting out engaging young people in grass roots football, the Charity has grown to become one of the most successful and well respected, award winning Community programmes in the country, engaging people with disabilities, mental health problems, ex forces and young offenders in football based programmes. They now have one of the most respected multi sport programmes called Premier League 4 Sport.

Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College has run a weekly volleyball session since the start of the programme in 2009. This was recently converted into the first ever junior volleyball club in Liverpool, named Everton Community Volleyball Club, where the girls have become members and play in the Merseyside league against teams who have been established for many years. As part of the programme the girls also get the opportunity to play against other PL clubs in national and regional competitions.

The girls were invited to be part of the 25th anniversary celebrations which saw them featured in the Match of the Day Community feature. Below is a link to the BBC Match of the Day feature.
