SEND – Mission

Our SEND Mission Statement Our mission is to be as inclusive as possible by recognising and harnessing all student’s strengths, gifts and talents whilst providing them with caring, appropriate support to ensure there is no significant difference in the quality of education between our neuro-diverse and our neuro-typical learners. Our SEND Values
  • We are INCLUSIVE: Inclusion is our mission as well as a guiding value. Through our Teaching and Learning offer, we ensure all students always have access to high quality teaching. We will also ensure we use a range of strategies to provide additional support for SEND learners.
  • We are PUPIL-CENTRED: Pupils and their education & wellbeing are at the centre of our work, our thinking, our decisions and our actions. The strategies we use will be based on individual area of need and in accordance with the pupil profile on Arbor. • We have an OPEN MINDSET: Our staff are continually learning and are motivated to do so. We place value on staff development at all levels within the college. We engage with parents and carers from varying backgrounds to foster good working relationships to help achieve positive outcomes.
  • We do the RIGHT THING: Despite the pressures of time and money, we will always, individually and collectively, strive to do the right thing, guided by our moral purpose, informed by our stakeholders and driven by our core college values. Some SEND students will have more specific strategies indicated on their pupil profile which we will always use.
At Archbishop Beck School, all pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) have full access to a broad and balanced curriculum. Our dedicated and passionate SEND team provides a comprehensive range of support to meet the individual needs of every pupil. We are committed to ensuring that all students are fully supported to access the curriculum, make progress alongside their peers, and participate in the full range of extracurricular activities and wider opportunities available at Archbishop Beck. At Archbishop Beck School, we believe that every teacher is a teacher of SEND. All staff share the responsibility for supporting pupils with Special educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that every learner can achieve their full potential. In line with the SEND Code of Practice, we recognise that SEND is everyone’s responsibility. All teachers are actively involved in the assessment, planning, teaching, and progress of all pupils, including those with additional needs. This approach promotes inclusive practice across the curriculum and ensures that our staff are equipped to meet the diverse needs of our students. Resources such as the Whole School SEND Handbook support this commitment by helping teachers develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide high-quality, inclusive teaching. At Archbishop Beck, we are proud to foster an inclusive environment where every pupil feels valued, supported, and able to thrive – both academically and personally.
