SEND – Transition
Helping Every Child Feel Confident, Supported and Ready for Change
At Archbishop Beck, we understand that any change — whether it’s starting school, moving to a new class, or transferring to a different setting — can be a big step for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Our aim is to make every transition as smooth, positive, and inclusive as possible for both students and their families. We believe that with the right preparation and support, every child can approach change with confidence and enthusiasm.
Working Together
We know that successful transitions happen when everyone works together. Our SENCO, teaching staff, parents, and external professionals all collaborate to ensure your child feels supported and understood.
We value your insight and invite you to share what helps your child thrive — both academically and emotionally.
Moving to Archbishop Beck
We work closely with primary schools to ensure a smooth and well-informed transition into Year 7. The SENCO liaises with feeder schools to gather information about students’ needs, strengths, and successful support strategies.
Where needed, we offer additional transition visits or small-group sessions to help students build confidence before September.
Working With Parents
We believe parents and carers are our partners in supporting students through transitions. We encourage open communication — please contact our SENCO at any stage to discuss your child’s needs. Together, we can make each new step in your child’s education a positive one.
