Antarctica Day
Friday 16 January 2026
We have received some lovely pictures of a task we set for our Key Stage 3 students.
We were able to send a select number of entries of ‘flags’ to travel to Antarctica to promote Antarctica as a continent for Antarctica Day (1st December 2025) and get students thinking about the importance of protecting the continent.
The Geography department selected the following students’ work to be sent:
- Nathan (Year 7)
- Ava-Leigh (Year 7)
- Georgie-Junior (Year 8)
Two of our flags were sent to Jennifer, a marine ecologist on the RV Polarstern German icebreaker ship. She has travelled to the continent to undertake some research and resupply the German Neumayer station. She has kindly attached some extra images of the station she is living in, the ship and some of the wildlife she is lucky to see on a daily basis.
