Last week students from Archbishop Beck received their certificates for completing a training course in first aid. The training was arranged in memory of Oliver King a student from King David, who sadly died in March 2011 while swimming in the pool at the school. The sports-mad youngster was struck down by Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS), which tends to affect healthy young people. Oliver’s dad Mark attended the ceremony along with Liverpool Cllr Jake Morrison, a patron of the campaign. On Monday a debate on the need for defibrillators in all schools and public buildings will be held at Westminster Hall in the House of Commons. Archbishop Beck recently purchased three defibrillators and 12 staff were trained in how to use them. All the Archbishop Beck community wish Oliver’s family every success with their campaign to have defibrillators in every school.
