Steve Rotherham MP Visit
MP for Liverpool Walton, Steve Rotheram, visited the college on Friday 23rd January, 2015.
Sixth Form students participated in a Question Time style discussion with the Head of Sixth Form, Mr Lynch, hosting the morning.
Mr Lynch said: “Mr Rotheram was tested by the range and depth of questions put to him by the students during an intense hour long session. Both students and staff feel that they learned something and appreciate the amount work undertaken by Steve Rotheram.
Mr Lynch added “Mr Rotheram entered the House of Commons on 6th May 2010, after the general election. He has spoken in 42 debates in the last year above average amongst MPs.
He has received answers to 106 written questions in the last year well above average amongst MPs.
He has voted in 74.92% of votes in this Parliament average amongst MPs.
We were certainly delighted to welcome, listen and learn from our above average MP.”
Sophie, Head Girl of the College said: “it was an impressive morning, from an impressive servant of British democracy. It was a delight to have Mr Rotheram with us and on behalf of my fellow students our thanks to him for giving of his time to come to our college.”
Mr Rotheram spoke to Mr Dickinson after the discussion and extended a welcome to students to visit him in the House of Commons. This visit will take place later in the year.
