Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Sunday events were held across the country in tribute to members of Britain and the Commonwealth’s Armed Forces who have died during conflicts.

Archbishop Catholic College was represented at two events in the city, when Reece a student from Year 10 laid a wreath at the service of Remembrance and Dedication at The Cenotaph, St George’s Hall, Lime Street, Liverpool. Sean Sweeney a Year 9 student played the Last Post and Reveille at the Liverpool Postal Workers Service of Remembrance, held in the Met Quarter, in the city centre.

Many members of the Liverpool community gathered on this special day, where wreaths were laid in memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

At first stroke of 11am the firing of a gun from St George’s Hall marked the start of two minutes’ silence, which was followed by The Last Post, sounded by the Buglers of The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment Band.

Reece Brown, said “Being a member of the army cadets, I found this to be a truly moving experience and was very honoured to have been asked to represent the college at this important civic event.”
