Whist visiting Australia, Mr Hicks catches up with Erin Brown

After catching up with Bruce over cake & coffee at the Queen Victoria Building Sydney, I’m reflecting on my life since leaving Archbishop Beck in 2014.

Having had amazing opportunities to travel with band, chamber choir & dance – I’ve always felt inspired to see more of the world.

I have travelled in places such as Fiji, Italy and the South of France. My latest adventure has involved me moving to the other side of the world to experience life in Australia. I am currently travelling the east coast with plans to eventually settle and begin living and working here. I have spent my first month exploring Melbourne, road tripping on the Great Ocean Road, visiting the Australian Open, enjoying Pilates on Bondi beach and visiting landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House. Many more adventures lay ahead of me and it’s such an exciting thought.

I would encourage anyone to go out and explore all the world has to offer us! I have gone solo on my journey but have met so many fantastic people from all over so have never felt alone. You can do anything you set your heart to and you’ll never regret travelling!

Thank you Erin for your inspiring story I think Robyn Yong’s quote certainly sums up your approach to life: “We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”

Very best wishes from everyone at Archbishop Beck Catholic College
