Chloe Murphy

The college community was delighted to have the opportunity to catch up with former student Chloe Murphy.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me looks like:

Get to my office at school between 11 – 12 o’clock. I have 9 players on my team so a lot of my day consists of restringing rackets when they break strings. Between the 9 players I will have to restring anywhere between 9 -18 rackets a week depending on if they break, are loose, we have matches coming up. Once rackets are strung then I spend time replying to emails, recruiting future players to my team and also recruiting my players out to the next level (Division 1 / Division 2 NCAA 4 year institutions). We then have team practice and fitness from 3 – 6pm right smack bang in the middle of the Florida heat.

When you were younger what did you want to be?

When I grew up I wanted to be a bunch of different things, before tennis I wanted to be a footballer, then I wanted to be a vet, but as soon as tennis came into my life that was all I wanted to do to be a professional tennis player.

What is the latest book you are reading?

The latest book I read was Ronda Rousey’s autobiography.

What is your all-time favourite movie?

My favourite movie, it’s tough to pick just one but I would have to say Jaws, it’s a classic.

What advice would you have given your teenage self?

Advice I would give my teenage self well I would say, ” Keep pushing, keep doing the work and keep giving the best at anything you do. Tough times don’t last but tough people do. Everything happens for a reason, just give your best and be true to yourself you’re in your own path.”

We send our very best wishes from the Archbishop Beck Catholic College community
