Liverpool Poets Corner

“If I do a poetry reading I want people to walk out and say they feel better for having been there – not because you’ve done a comedy performance but because you’re talking about your father dying or having young children, things that touch your soul.” Roger McCough A Summer evening of outstanding poetry, where the spoken word was celebrated through powerful, emotive and thought provoking prose. Themes included, Human Rights, Gender, Identity and Environmental Issues to name a few. Through laughter, tears and stories the audience really had their souls touched. Joseph Roberts (Head boy 2020 / 21) held the audience spellbound by renditions of his latest poetry. Truly inspirational, Joseph was part of an amazing array of poets who performed during the evening. The college was represented by Mrs Newton and Mr Hicks. Speaking after the event Mr Hicks said, “the whole audience came away feeling better for having been part of this fantastic evening, Thank you Joseph and very best wishes in the years ahead”.
