Young Liverpool Composers

On Thursday the 12th March A level and AS music students from Archbishop Beck Catholic College attended the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to hear compositions performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic String Quartet. These were string quartets composed by the students as part of the A Level music studies. Beth (Year 13) said “We were able to hear our compositions played live. This was a fantastic experience for us because over the past year we’ve all put in a lot of hard work, time and effort into our compositions and hearing them being played live and by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic String Quartet made the whole experience even more special. During the course of the day we heard all of our compositions. We also interacted with the members of the String Quartet, as young musicians we feel that this was a very good experience The advice that the musicians gave us was very helpful and will help in the future with our musical careers”. “This project is part of the ongoing prestigious association the College has with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the excellent Academic Music Programme within the College” said Bruce Hicks Director of Music”. On the day the players from the Philharmonic awarded the Archbishop Beck Composers Medal to Adam of Year 12.
