“If you like an instrument that sings, play the saxophone.” Stan Getz On Saturday 5th March 2022, Archbishop Beck Catholic College hosted a Saxophone Ensembles Day organised by Julie Collins and Dr Anne James from Liverpool Hope University. The day featured around 30 saxophonists, from soprano to baritone, all of different ages and abilities, coming together as a large ensemble and breaking out into smaller groups to develop their playing and performance technique with a range of pieces of different styles and genres. We were delighted that places were offered to a number of our saxophone students at the College. Speaking after the event, Chris Tratt, Band Director of the college said , “A wonderful day of collaboration with expert tuition and a great achievement by our students.”
