LSSP Football

On Thursday 28th April the year 7 and 8 football teams represented the college in the Liverpool School Sports Partnership 7-a-side football tournament at Liverpool FC academy. Both teams recovered from slow starts to produce some fantastic football and qualify for the knockout stage as group winners.

In the quarter finals the year 8 team overcame a strong Gateacre side winning 2-0, whilst the year 7’s won a nerve-wracking penalty shoot out to progress to the next round. In the semi-finals our year 8’s faced a strong St Hilda’s team, but a commanding performance resulted in a 2-goal victory to secure their place in the final. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t be joined by the year 7 team who were narrowly defeated 1-0 against Calderstones in their semi-final.

A fiercely contested final required the year 8 team to dig deep and produce another excellent performance to win the trophy with a well-deserved 2-0 victory.

This was a fantastic opportunity for the boys to experience playing at a professional academy and both teams were a credit to the college. Well done to all involved.
