Learning, Understanding and Caring
“We all have the duty to do good.” Pope Francis
Students from Year 9 have been involved in a number of sports SEND events to enable them to become more aware and understand the knowledge and concept regarding sensory and physical disabilities.
Our young college student ambassadors not only supported local special needs schools in a variety of sports, but also were involved in participating in numerous disability sports such as Blind Football, Amputee Football and Sitting Volleyball.
Our students really enjoyed the experience and will continue to raise awareness and support further disability events in the near future. They were true college ambassadors where learning, understanding and caring for others were the order of the day.
What is SEND?
Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can affect a child or young person’s ability to learn. They can affect their:
- behaviour or ability to socialise, for example they struggle to make friends
- reading and writing, for example because they have dyslexia
- ability to understand things
- concentration levels, for example because they have ADHD
