‘The Little Mermaid’

Year 10 student Malachy recently starred in a production of ‘The Little Mermaid’ as leading role King Triton, which was presented by Liverpool musical theatre company BEAP. It was performed in Liverpool Community College, Hardman Street, to two sold-out audiences.

BEAP was formed in 2010 & brings together students from many schools across Liverpool. Their Director, Ali White, is the Director of the Children’s Choir ‘ Melody Makers’ at the Liverpool Philharmonic. Thier vocal tutor is Archbishop Beck’s Mrs Newton. BEAP’s mission statement is:

Founded in 2012, BEAP has brought the gift of musical theatre to many children.

Performing brings out the creative side of children through singing, dancing and story telling and we provide a safe environment for children to do just this.

We challenge them in a supportive environment to be the best that they can be.

We build confidence, not only developing skills that children need for the stage, but also life skills: team building, backstage production and artistic skills in designing and writing the programme.

Malachy & the other students learned the whole musical of ‘The Little Mermaid’ in just five days, having never met as a company before. Truly incredible! Well done Malachy!
