Duke of Lancaster Band Visit

Archbishop Beck Catholic College were delighted to welcome the Duke of Lancaster’s Band for a special training day at the College on Saturday 28th, 2013.

We chose as our theme for the day: Challenge, Motivation and Inspiration!

The day was extremely challenging for the young musicians as they were required to perform some of the top charts the Army Band was currently working on. However, they all successfully met the Challenge.

Music is all about motivation and the young musicians from the College were motivated to give their best, thus, achieving a fantastic result in the concert at the end of the day.

Our young musicians were really inspired by the outstanding Army musicians who inspired them to further develop their skills as musicians.

Speaking after the event Bandmaster Warrant Officer First Class Gavin Holden commented, “It was a great pleasure to work alongside such talented and dedicated young musicians. Music is thriving at Archbishop Beck Catholic College and as a band we were extremely pleased to be able to join forces; making some fantastic music whilst encouraging the next generation of musicians who had embraced the theme of the day, “Challenge, Motivation and Inspiration.” I very much look forward to future events and would like to say a sincere thank you to Mr Bruce Hicks for allowing this event to take place.”

Year 13 student Megan described the day as a, “Remarkable, exciting and challenging day. It was immensely enjoyed by all members of the College Band. Thank you to the outstanding army musicians; we had a day of sharing fantastic music.”

Director of Music, Bruce Hicks said, “We go out of our way to provide the very best education for our students and days such as this show the extensive, extended curriculum the College offers”
