Top Achievement for Student!

Jack – Swimming his way to success!

Jack overcame strong competition to win a “gold medal” at the Merseyside and District Swimming Clubs recent Gala, but what made this achievement even greater was that Jack, aged 13 was competing out of his age section. He in fact competed in the “Open Age” group and won.

Jack has numerous swimming honours to his name:

  • City of Liverpool sprint champion 1st 50m Butterfly
  • Everton Club Champion
  • Penguin Club Champion

In between his gruelling training programme and competitive events, Jack also has accomplishments outside of the pool, in music, where he plays Bass Clarinet, Clarinet, and Alto Saxophone in the College Wind Orchestra and singing in the College Choir. Outside College he is also a keen golfer.

Jack believes that Swimming is a passion, he also understands it requires dedication, motivation and commitment to achieve a high standard.

Bruce Hicks, Assistant Headteacher believes that Jack is a young student with a real passion for everything he does and references a quote from a famous Australian swimmer that sums up Jack.

“For myself, losing is not coming second. It’s getting out of the water knowing you could not have done better. For myself, I have won every race I’ve been in”.
