Outstanding Achievement of College Music Students

Students at Archbishop Beck Catholic College were delighted with their efforts at the recent Wirral Festival of Music. The College Senior Wind Orchestra won their section for Larger Ensembles; they also won the U/18 School Orchestra section and in addition they were also awarded the Anthony Ridley Orchestra Award.

Our partner primary school band from St Francis De Sales also gained first place in the under 12 Instrumental Ensemble Section.

Sean won the u/ 17 Brass Section. Sean performed a movement from Haydn’s Trumpet concerto, which was followed up by fellow trumpet player Elspeth also gaining a 3rd place in this section. Well done to all the soloists.

Speaking after the event, Director of Music Bruce Hicks described how, after many months of hard work, preparation and commitment, all the ensembles and soloists gave amazing performances, “we are very proud of these young people and salute their achievements, and they are indeed a wonderful ‘band of brothers.'”
