The Big Book Quiz

Recently, two Archbishop Beck reading teams visited Hillside High School to compete in The Big Book Quiz. Students and parents enjoyed a wealth of entertainment including an engaging introduction from author Jon Mayhew. Following an intense period of preparation, our talented year 7 and 8 students pitted their wits, knowledge and guile against representatives from other Merseyside schools in an attempt to make it through to the finals in July.

Our teams read four books in preparation for the quiz:

  • Wonder by RJ Palacio
  • Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl
  • Liar and Spy by Rebecca Stead
  • A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

Mrs Wills from the English department said, ‘All students gave their absolute best with both teams achieving joint 3rd place.’ She added, ‘The students were great ambassadors for our College.’

Well done to our students on their fantastic performance!
