Good Citizen Award

At Archbishop Beck College we have a policy of rewarding our students for work done not only in the classroom but also to celebrate the good work that our students do both within our college family and the local community. As a Christian community within the Catholic Tradition, values, principles and a good education are important in the ethos of the work we do in educating the young citizens of today for tomorrow’s world.

It is for this reason that we have introduced a Good Citizen Award. Each term, a student from each year group is chosen by their Progress Manager for this prestigious award to celebrate the good work they do.

Before choosing a Good Citizen, Progress Managers take into consideration the following criteria when deciding upon the award:

  • Voluntary work
  • Being a good friend
  • Working hard in school and participating in extra-curricular activities
  • Helping their family in some way (taking siblings to school)
  • Acts of kindness and charity
  • Being respectful to everyone around them
  • Fundraising activities

Our Good Citizens will spend one afternoon working within the local community, with volunteers from Business in the Community. This is a fantastic charity that works closely to support businesses to tackle issues connected to education, unemployment, enterprise, employee volunteering and marketplace sustainability in the North West.
