College Welcomes Educators

Hundreds of teachers gathered at school and college campuses across Liverpool on Friday 23rd October, for subject conferences designed to allow educators to network and share strategies for implementing teaching standards in their subjects. Archbishop Beck Catholic College was delighted to welcome Music and Geography delegates.

“Everyone thinks they know how to teach because they’ve been a student and really no one understands teaching like teachers and so we were able to see some great presenters and discuss our own, personal experiences,” said Andrew Jones Head of Geography at Archbishop Beck .

Speakers at other sessions included composer Bill Connor, Anne James from Hope University, Chris Tratt, and Simon Emery from the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Ensembles programmes.

The conferences were a collaboration of School Improvement Liverpool”, Liverpool Association of Secondary Headteaches and various schools and colleges from across the city.

Stephanie Wells from School Improvement Liverpool, said: “we have always sought to address topical issues in education that improve, enhance and maintain the highest standards of teaching for our students, this special day was one such way of addressing current issues”.

Paul Dickinson, speaking after the event said, “It has been a most rewarding experience where colleagues from across the city have come together and added so much can be achieved when we have the underlying philosophy that we are Better Together!”

A highlight of the day was the closing sequence at Archbishop Beck where the music delegates gathered to perform for the geography teachers, For the Beauty of the Earth, by John Rutter.
