Year 10 Student Scoops a Top Award
Archbishop Beck Catholic College Year 10 student scoops a top award for her public speaking!
Amy won the Merivale Shield at the Branch final of the Winston Churchill, English Speaking Union competition held on Friday 3rd February 2017
The competition was held in the historic “The Athenaeum Club” Liverpool.
Amy was part of the College’s Public Speaking team, whose roles were:
- Speaker: Lewis
- Chair: Jack
- Questioner: Amy
Lewis’s speech was on the daunting topic: “The Final Frontier-space or quantum physics.”
Speaking after the event Headteacher, Paul Dickinson said “the performance of our team was truly amazing, they are a very talented group of public speakers. We are extremely proud of how well our team has performed in this year’s competition. Amy absolutely deserved to win her number one spot. Over many years the college has had continued success in public speaking, highlighting the efforts where the college supports students to achieve in so many areas outside the classroom.”
