ABRABO at the Cavern

Students performed at the world-famous Cavern Club.

On Tuesday 26th September, students from Archbishop Beck put on a performance at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, a large and very appreciative were in attendance.

The Cavern Club opened its doors in 1957 and is the place where Merseybeat music was first introduced. The venue slowly began to build a reputation as the most publicised pop music venue in the world, due to it being the birth place of arguably the most famous rock and roll band in history, The Beatles. After The Beatles became successful in the UK charts, as well as America, more prestigious acts wanted to play at this club.

Over the years, many artists have played at the iconic venue; including, Sir Paul McCartney, Oasis, Chuck Berry and Adele.

15 students, who are a part of the Archbishop Beck Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, performed a variety of different arrangements, featuring songs by The Beatles, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton and many others.

Speaking after the event Mr Paul Wade, music teacher at the college and leader of the Rhythm and Blues Orchestra said, “our performance at the Carven club gave our students a taste of the culture and heritage that our fantastic city has within the music scene.” he added , the performance of the group was really amazing they certainly enjoyed every minute of this fantastic evening”
