Let the Music Play

It certainly was a case of “let the music play” when on Saturday 10th February the outstanding, committed and talented musicians in the college’s instrumental programme joined with members of the Duke of Lancaster’s Band to have an intensive day of music making. The Army Band was under the direction of Warrant Officer, Gavin Holden. We were also joined by Dr Anne James from Hope University.

The day concluded with a concert for parents and friends.

Special focus of the day was preparing the work commissioned by the college called “Shadows of the Mersey” this will receive its world premier in April.

Speaking after the event Mr Hicks, Senior Band Director paid tribute to the outstanding achievement of the day describing it “ as one of our most successful, motivating and high achieving training days” adding, “yes we really did “let the Music Play”

Special thanks to Mr Chris Tratt, Junior Band Director and Phillipa and Megan Rowlands.
