Swimming the Lochs to Raise Money

Mark McDonald a former student from Archbishop Beck Catholic College, in Liverpool and now studying statistics at Glasgow University recently did a sponsored swim.

The swim was to raise money for SVA (student volunteers abroad), a charity based in Glasgow University. Mark said “our group are going out to Malawi to teach in schools and orphanages, as well as raising awareness about HIV, and promoting gender equality. We leave on the 8th June and return beginning of September.”

Mark said “that the swim was about 2 miles and I’ve never felt cold like it. I couldn’t feel my feet, hands or face when I got out. But I did enjoy it, all for a good cause. I was very grateful to all my sponsors but was really delighted and proud that my former College got behind my efforts.”
