Talking their Way to the Top!

“By words we learn thoughts, and by thoughts we learn life.” Jean Baptiste Girard

Congratulations to the College’s Public Speaking team who have secured a place in the regional heat of the prestigious English Speaking Union (ESU) Churchill Public Speaking Contest. Held on Saturday 26th January at the Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.

A wonderful event, where words flowed, imagination took flight and opinions boldly expressed.

Our Team were, Chair: Matthew Brough, Speaker Ciara Miller and Questioner Jake Cliff. Team Reserve: Joseph Roberts.

Added to this honour, Matthew Brough was awarded the “BEST CHAIR” prize for the event.

Archbishop Beck Catholic College, along with St Edwards College, will travel to Cheshire for the regional final at the end of March.

Speaking after the event, Headteacher, Paul Dickinson said, “this very prestigious event highlights the extended curriculum of the college where the talents of our students are nurtured, grown and developed. They were an amazing team and continue a long line of success in public speaking. Well done!”
